INFINITE FICTION
Interview Assessment 1
My first interview was conducted with Joey Cade, the executive producer at Infinite Fiction. From our meeting I was hoping to gain a better understanding of the specific skills and attribute needed to be in the animation industry. Since I am not completely sure what part of the animation industry I want to be in, I decided to ask some questions regarding specific fields. This interview also gave me the perspective of a producer who has hired people for many jobs. During this meeting I also spoke to David Gaitan the creative director at Infinite Fiction who had more information regarding skills need to be in the animation industry.
CRM STUDIOS
Interview Assessment 2
My second interview was conducted with Gerald Rice, the director of animation at CRM studios. From our discussion I wanted to gain a better understanding of a general scope of animation and the skills necessary to enter the field. This interview gave me the perspective of a generalist who has many skills in many areas of the animation pipeline. During this meeting we discussed the evolution of various softwares and the general requirements of the animation industry. Â This was a very interesting and informative interview as I was able to gain a better understanding of the various areas of the animation industry.
JANIMATION
Interview Assessment 3
My third interview was with Julia Bacak, an animator at Janimation Studios in Dallas. Janimation Studios works in many fields such as advertising, video games, live action and virtual reality. During this interview I was able to learn about skills and softwares needed for the animation industry, the animation pipeline, and try virtual reality. This was a very interesting discussion as I was able to gain more information about specific technical aspects of the animation industry.
REEL FX
Interview Assessment 4
My fourth interview was with Marta Marks, the Head of Artist Management and Recruiting at Reel FX. Â Reel FX is a well known studio in Dallas as they make feature films though they also have a commercial division and a virtual reality department. During this interview I was able to learn a lot about the management of studios, and how large projects are made within a studio's budget. This was a very interesting discussion as I was able to learn more about how studios and animation pipelines function to create large projects.
POST ASYLUM
Interview Assessment 5
My fifth interview was with Jason Rojas, a motion designer at Post Asylum Studios. Post Asylum is a studio in Dallas that does many types of work including, animation and motion graphics in advertising and more recently virtual reality games. During this interview I was able to learn a lot about the process of becoming an animator in a studio setting and how to progress in the industry. Mr. Rojas primarily discussed the various skills that are needed in order to succeed in the the animation industry. He had a very interesting perspective since he had worked in an ad agency prior to working at other types of studios. This allowed me to learn about other types of work and how different studios function.
BRAZEN ANIMATION
Interview Assessment 6
My sixth interview was conducted with Jasmine Johnson the head of production at Brazen Animation. Brazen animation is a studio in downtown Dallas that has made original short films, and has also made content for advertisements and virtual reality. Brazen employs a diverse group of people and was founded by industry veterans who came together in 2013 to make Brazen Animation. This studio is very efficient and employs twenty five to thirty people to work on around 35 projects at any one time. Ms. Johnson had the perspective of a manager position and by speaking to her I was able to learn about  how Brazen animation works in comparison to other studios she has worked at.
